Upcycle Jeans into a Hobo Bag
Watch me transform old ripped jeans into a unique, cute reversible hobo bag
SUPPLIES NEEDED:
-
A pair of old jeans
-
1 yard of Inner lining fabric
-
Optional fusible interfacing for extra structure
-
Fabric dye and color fixative
CUT JEANS:
First, I cut up the jeans into 4 panels along the seams. I decided I wanted to dye the jeans and wanted parts to have a tie dye design. So I tied 2 of the panels up.
DYE DENIM:
Next into the fabric dye bath for 45 mins, stirring consistently. I also decided to use a color fixative to enhance and retain the color. Rinse and wash.

CREATE TEXTILE:
To create the new textile for the bag, I cut the denim into 2.5 inch strips and then used my serger to sew these together. You could certainly use a regular sewing machine and then iron the seams open afterwards.
CREATE BAG:
I used our Reversible Hobo Bag Sewing Pattern to create the bag.
